About Us

SockMunkys started when the owner Becky was on maternity leave with her eldest daughter who was born in 2010. I had a lot of spare time on my hands and I’m not one for sitting and doing nothing! I originally saw sock monkeys being made by others but for around £30! I knew I could make them better and sell them for less! It took a lot of time to perfect my design and then it took me around 6 months to build up the courage to get my SockMunkys CE and UKCA tested so that we know they would be safe. 
So for nearly 15 years I have been shopping for socks with beautiful designs that I could then cut up, sew and stuff with lots of fluffy stuff………to make into gorgeous SockMunkys. During this time I have also gone through college and university to qualify as a Paediatric nurse. SockMunkys has supported me in more ways than one. They have helped us financially, emotionally and helped me stay grounded. We absolutely love the fact that they make people happy.

We try my best to ensure that we buy the best quality ankle socks. Most are ladies or the largest of children’s socks so overall sizes of Munkys can be different. We have also used men’s socks. It all depends on the quality and the design as I cannot be buying and using socks that when you stretch them, the pattern disappears. I also try to ensure that the stitches of the seems do not come undone. When hand stitching them together, I use the strongest of thread that even I cannot break with my bear hands. We also try to ensure that all stitching is blind. This means that the stitching is not visible where the different parts are joined. We use safety eyes for the SockMunkys eyes. They cannot be undone or removed. If I put them on wrong, I cannot reuse them, I have to use a new pair. Our SockMunkys have been tested and survived a 30 degree machine wash and have been dried on the radiator. Our SockMunkys are also stuffed with the softest of fluff! This makes them extra cuddly and soft to squeeze!
